before i start my story.. HAPPIE BIRTHDAY XUELI!! 14 YEARS OLD LIAOS =)
okay here goes..
Everyone should be given a chance to do something they want. When somebody does something wrong, they should be given a second chance. For the person you really love, when they commit the same mistake twice, if it was accidental, they should be given a third chance. Also, sometimes special things do happen.
Chance
"If you step out of this house, you shall never come back in!"
Mike immediately packed his belongings and ran out of the house in a rush.
Mike is a 15 year old teen. When he was young, he used to be really really nice. He scored good results, was filial to his parents and was very friendly. However, ever since he mixed with the wrong company in secondary school, he changed. Changed into a guy who refuses to do his homework, loiter around the neighbourhood and disobeys his parents' commands. He also changed into a guy who is obsessed with his computer games and talks on the phone for long hours without considering the expensive phone bills. Mike's parents had been very patient with his attiude. They had a positive thinking that it was teenage period, so they tend to be slightly rebellious. But after quite sometime, they realised that Mike is getting really out of hand and reprimands him.
It was till this day when Mike's father was so flared up that he chased Mike out of the house.
"You unrepentant child, I have no son like you! Get out and never come back!"
Mike took his belongings and went out of the house. He was not at all sad. Instead, he felt as though he was freed from his cage. He went over to his friend's house and stayed overnight. But after a few days, each of his friends were tired of him staying over at their houses, and chased him away as well. Mike was homeless. Not only did he miss school during this period, he almost finished the money he had on him. One night while Mike was sleeping on a bench in a park, a stranger walked towards him and patted him lightly on his shoulder. He looked at the familiar face stunningly. "What are you doing here little boy? Don't just sleep here, come follow me." An old lady very nicely urged Mike to the place she was staying. The old lady looked alot like Mike's grandmother, but was unsure. However, feeling that it was alright to follow her, Mike went with the old lady.
The old lady took Mike home and gave him a proper bed to sleep on. The house looked almost as though it was going to tear apart. However, Mike was already thankful to the old lady. During the weeks, the old lady treated Mike like her own grandson. Mike was really touched by what she did. Perhaps it was this chance that the old lady decided to give Mike, he decided to over a new leaf. Mike studied real hard in school and worked part time while studying. He earned quite some money and repayed the old lady. Mike's attitude towards the things he do changed. He became more dilligent and more thoughtful towards others. During this period, Mike's parents quietly looked at how Mike is doing in school and at work.
One year has passed. Mike received his end of year results and ran back to show the old lady his results. However, the old lady was not around. He ran around in search of her but to no avail. He gave up finding and decided to go home. At the doorsteps of his house, he took up his courage and knocked on the door. "Son! Finally you are back!!" Mike's mum hugged him. His dad had also forgiven him.
Mike told his parents about the place he stayed, the things he done, what he had reflected upon and the old lady who took care of him. When he took out the photo he took with the old lady and showed it to his parents, they were shocked and horrified. Mike found it weird and asked why their reaction. "The old lady who took care of you is your grandma. I could recognise the birthmark on her neck! But how could that be possible?! She passed away 2 years ago.."
